Thinking Green

Three recycling centers are available for residents and visitors to the lake area. The centers are open 24/7, provide self-service containers for household recyclables, and even provide pay-as-you-throw trash service. The centers are operated by the Logan County Solid Waste District, in cooperation with the Village of Lakeview, the Indian Lake State Park and Indian Lake Water Pollution Control.

The Lakeview center is located directly behind the Lakeview Village Offices. The Moundwood Recycling Center is located at the end of the parking lot at the Moundwood Boat Ramp just off St. Rt. 366.

The Russells Point center is located at the Indian Lake Water Pollution Control (Sewer) office. This is located past the Russells Point office on St. Rt. 708 (Orchard Island Rd.) All centers are handicapped accessible.

The Recycling Centers are well lit and use cameras to monitor activities to prevent illegal dumping. Signs and brochures at each site will guide you in using the site properly. Pay-as-you-throw trash bags are available at vending machines at each site.

Materials accepted are paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, tin and stell cans, and plastic bottles and jugs marked #1 and #2 plastic. Check the brochures to learn more about materials that can be recycled. For further information, call 937-559-1253.
